So I took apart the 2003 Fender Japan Strat that I had..mainly because I was never really happy with a number of things on that guitar. At the same time I had managed to purchase a discount trans white body off Warmoth. My line of thinking at the time was: instead of fixing up the Jap strat bit by bit, why not start over with this new body.
I was a fan of the way the Mary Kaye strat looked - even though I'm not usually a fan of gold hardware, it seems to work in this case. And so I slowly purchased all the other parts I needed to make it look closer to the source of the inspiration:
Gold Gotoh hardware
CTS pots
Vintage style wiring and electronics
Single ply pickgoard
The guitar plays well but sounds pretty average. I am not a huge fan of those Fender Fat 50s, so I might look at swapping them out at some point...maybe even for some noiseless options.
