The build for this strat was detailed in a few blog posts but basically it was inspired by '62 Strat specs.
The body is from Wildwood Manufacturing, and relic'd by the team at MJT.
The neck was from Musikraft and is "Seasoned Maple/Dark Rosewood" from their description. 10" Radius and a medium C profile. It comes with clay dots and 6105 frets.
It plays well with medium action. The two outer strings (high and low E) are closer to the edge of the fretboard than most other guitars and this can lead to some adaptations when playing but it is not a disaster IMO. Since the spacing has been set at 56mm, one solution would be to get the V/N spaced bridge that Callaham produces.
I'm very happy with the Klein set in there. If I were to be super critical I would probably only change the bridge pickup. It's not that it doesn't sound good, I just don't think it has the unique character that the neck and middle pickups do.
The hardware is mostly Gotoh and I am fairly happy with it. They are reliable and I certainly do not think that they take anything away from the tone.
Update (2019):
I've changed the bridge of this guitar to one that was built by Allan Pascoe (local builder), to my specs. I've asked for a saddle spacing that is narrower, to address the issue of the 2 outer strings being too close to the fretboard edge (a common "issue" on vintage spec guitars). While I was changing things up, I decided to go with Highwood saddles and Raw Vintage tremolo spings.
Upgrades to be done:
None
Upgrades done:
Spec'd from ground up but I've since changed
1. Allan Pascoe cold rolled steel bridge
2. Highwood saddles
3. Raw vintage springs
