Hi. My name is Alex. I'm a YouTube addict.
YouTube is a favourite hangout of mine on the web. There is a wealth of knowledge on there, and also a lot of misinformation. Anyway, here are just a handful of my favourite channels:
Music Theory and Guitar Technique
Fretjam: Awesome theory, lots of stuff on modes and even some stuff on guitar techniques. Also check out fretjam.com
Rick Beato: Shares his wealth of knowledge with frequent videos. To be honest some of the stuff he talks about flies over my head but I have learnt a lot off him.
Troy Grady: Troy is pretty famous in Youtube-land among guitarists. This guy is all about the picking...man.
Gear
That Pedal Show: Everybody's favourite way to spend Friday evening. If you haven't heard of this channel and you are into pedals, get out from under that rock!
Doug and Pat Show: Who doesn't wanna watch two old dudes talk about pickups and other vintage gear for an hour every episode?
Pete Thorn: Working guitarist who is affiliated with a lot of gear that he demos, but still worth watching.
Chicago Music Exchange: Gear demos with great production value. They have access to some really rare guitars that makes for some drool-worthy viewing at times.
Greg's Guitars: Straight outta Denmark. I think he owns a store or online business and he demos a lot of the guitars that he sells. Awesome player, and he has a teddy bear holding up the mic to the amp. What's not to love?
Artists
There are too many to mention but I will just list off some of my favourites here. These are the guys that I got introduced to via Youtube, but some of them have albums out:
Mark Lucas
RJ Ronquillo
Mike Hermans (Pop Into the Chemist)
Tom Quayle
Mateus Asato
Andre Nieri
...and many more
Well, that's my brain dump complete for today.
